BATTLEFIELD 2042: SEASON 6
This was the win-back season. The season where Battlefield 2042 stepped out of its comfort zone in a pursuit for our core players.
We created a cross channel/ platform connected story to get player’s buzzed and back on the Battlefield. From a strong narrative hook to a full blown interconnected story to keep engagment from reveal to launch.
In our narrative, soldiers begin to go missing as they were being experimented. So we did the obvious thing and put up missing person’s posters, but in as many current in-game maps that we could. This got player’s talking. On each, a QR code led them to a micro-site where they discovered more details about our ’missing soldiers’ - as well as the first piece of our picture-hunt. On each platform we hid a segment of an image that would later reveal the next map. And so the hunt began.
We placed parts of this one image on every platform we could. Social, wed, community, CRM and of course, in-game. As well as utilising our creators to reveal the final piece of the hunt. We sparked conversation throughout the gaming community. Re-ignited players and ultimately had the best player count joining or re-joing the Battlefield since the launch of BF2042.
And the season hadn’t even begun yet.
We began by placing MIA posters across a selection of in-game maps.
We scattered multiple bits of intel for players to pick up on. This is just one piece of the puzzle.
Enter Dark Creations
The idea behind this season was all about mastering fear, becoming the hunter and never the prey - no matter how intense your surroundings are. Diving into the unknown and adapting to any frantic twists that come your way. It's about relying not only on your squad, but your gut to vanquish whatever is lurking in the shadows. From this, we created a reveal trailer, a gameplay trailer, an iconic ‘beauty shot’ and of course, the mid-season event trailer.
